Games Theme song launched

GUWAHATI, Jan 22: The Theme Song of the 12th South Asian Games, 2016 was released amid thunderous applause of thousands of people and volunteers during Run for North East and the Torch Relay at Soram field here today The theme song is one of legendary Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s immortal creations ‘Ei Prithibi Ek Krirangon’.

A recomposed version of the song has been prepared for the Games. It has been sung by Mayukh Hazarika, the nephew of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, along with 8 children. All the eight languages of the participating countries of the 12th South Asian Games, 2016 have been represented in the Theme song.

Launching the song, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbanda Sonowal said, “Bhupenda’s vision and universal appeal of humanity and brotherhood would keep inspiring us and the whole world.” He further added that the Theme song perfectly expresses the vision of the Games, that is, peace, progress and prosperity.

Assam Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Ajit Singh was also present during the theme song launching ceremony along with eminent sports persolities from the state and the region.
