Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated, Silchar

Silchar: Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with solemnity and serenity at Binnakandi Ghat Durga Temple. The 3-day festival began on September 13.

The president of the Puja committee, Durga Kanta Pandey, former head teacher, secretary, Sunit Pandey headed the puja celebrations. The committee has been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi for the last 3 years. Along with the puja celebrations, they also took part in Swachhta Abhiyan and cleaned Binnakandi Ghat market road, PWD road and other lanes and by lanes of Binnakandi Ghat. Processions were also taken out by them across PWD road and Lakhipur tea garden road. Kirtans and distribution of prasad also formed a part of the puja celebrations. Prasad was distributed among people from all communities. Anwar Hussain Choudhury officer-in-charge of Lakhipur police station deployed police personnel to ward off any untoward incident.
