“I had withdrawn some money from Axis Bank today. My car was parked in front of the bank at BOC Gate of Bongaigaon town. I kept the bag in the front seat of my car before taking the driving seat. Suddenly, an unknown person came to me and said ‘Hey, perhaps that is your money purse lying on the road.” I immediately opened the door of the car and tried to check. As I looked out, a child stched the bag containing money through the window and ran. I immediately realized what had happened and I also started to run behind the child. I was able to b him after a chase of about half a kilometer. I handed over the child to police,” he said.

The child is 12 years of age and hails from Siliguri in West Bengal.

According to his statement, he had come to Bongaigaon yesterday. “He also confessed that he used to do such stching since long. The boy said that he commits the crime alone and that he is not associated with any gang. Actually, as per our suspicion, these boys are trained not to mention about their gang if they get caught. We are investing and trying to get information about this gang. Hope, we shall succeed soon,” a police official mentioned.
