Gaonburahs' meet at Dikhowmukh

GAURISAGAR, March 31: With a view to solve the various demands of gaon burahs (village headmen) in greater Jakaichuk Mouza under Sivasagar Revenue circle, a meeting was held at Dikhowmukh recently. The meeting was presided over by Prabhat Sadhanidar, president, Jakaichuk Mouza Gaonburah Samiti. In the meeting gaon burahs expressed their strong resentment for low remuneration. In 2013 the Assam government had assured gaon burahs to increase their monthly remuneration to Rs 5,000 along with additiol Rs 500 as medical allowance, but the gaon burahs continue to be deprived. The gaon burahs decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister through the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar for fulfillment of their demands.
