Gaonburas asked not to participate in election campaign

KOKRAJHAR, March 19: The All BTC Gaonbura Association on Thursday issued instruction to the gaonburas of four districts not to get involved in the election campaign for the forthcoming BTC election slated to be held on April 8.

In a press release, the president, Dhanjay Brahma and general secretary Robert Kerketta said the gaonburas of BTC had bitter experience in the past council elections. They said the gaonburas had been asked to stay away from participating in the campaign and also instructed them not to be members of any election steering committee. The gaonburas should work for peaceful election in their respective polling stations and be vigilant so that no untoward incident takes place; they said, adding that the gaonburas would help the district administration and voters for free and fair election.
