Gauhati High Court grants bail to Veteran Ex-Army officer Md Sanaullah

Guwahati: Veteran Ex-Army officer Md Sanaullah, who was declared a foreigner by the Foreigners Tribunal, Boko who was sent to the Goalpara Detention Camp has been granted bail by the Gauhati High Court on Friday evening.

Veteran Ex-Army officer Md Sanaullah has granted bail an interim prayer by the jawan before the divisional bench of Gauhati High Court.

Speaking to the media, Advocate Syed Buranur Rahman informed that the divisional bench of Gauhati High Court had issued a notice to the respondent Union Government of India, State of Assam, Defence Ministry, NRC Authority including private respondent border police officer Chandramal Das.

Advocated Rahman further mentioned that Sanaullah’s case was fought by High profile Senior Advocate Indira Jaisingh.

On Thursday his cousin brother and ex-army personnel, Ajmal Haque told the media that they would fight against the order and challenge the judgement of the Foreigners’ Tribunal in Gauhati High Court on Thursday.

Ajmal alleged against the Assam Police Border Branch was making a false investigation report with border police officer Chandramal Das of Boko Police Station against veteran army officer Md. Sanaullah.

Ajmal further alleged that due to the conspiracy of the Assam Police border branch, thousands of innocent and poor people were not being able to maintain their case register book. He questioned that if Md. Sanaullah was a foreigner then what about his family? Except for Md. Sanaullah and his wife, two daughters and a son, all his elder brothers were also included in the NRC draft. “How is this possible?” said Ajmal.

Md Sanaullah’s family will seek justice by filing a case in Gauhati High Court. Ex-Army officer Md. Sanaullah’s three cousin brothers, Maksad Ali, Ashraful Anwar Hussain and Sohidul Islam met Sanaullah at Goalpara detention camp. During their visits, Md Sanaullah told them that he was now waiting for justice from the high court. According to his cousin brother Sohidul Islam, Sanaullah was suffering from depression due to this incident. He never thought that one day he would be declared a foreigner in his own country.

Earlier, All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) president visited Sanaullah’s birthplace Kalahikakh under Chaygaon legislative constituency and alleged that the Assam Police Border branch was branding minority people as foreigners every day.
