Gauripur railway station declared as junction

DHUBRI, April 30: Gauripur railway station of Dhubri district has been declared as junction with running of engine on trial basis and installation of computerized sigling system on Sunday. This is part of the 86-km new railway track being laid between Gauripur and Abhayapuri under the New Moiguri-Jogighopa New Railway line project, which is likely to be completed by 2018, as assured by high-level railway officials, including Divisiol Railway Mager Sanjive Kishore a couple months ago.

 NFR deputy engineer Promode Kumar and assistant engineer PM Hazarika performed rituals prior to iuguration of the junction and computerized sigling system amid a huge gathering of local people of Gauripur town.

 The works of new railway track lying, constriction of bridges and culverts are going on in a war footing and as reported, most of the tracks between Gauripur and Abhayapuri have already been completed with completion of bridges and culverts.

 However, work of construction of tunnel near North Salmara of Bongaigaon district is yet to be started but it start soon and take one-and -half year time to get the works done, an railway official informed on Sunday.

 Official informed that within couple of days, the engine will run 11 km between Gauripur Junction to Alamganj on trial basis  and cross the level crossing at ABC Bricks and Botertal on Dhubri-Gauripur  GTB Road in Gauripur.   

 “Opening of this new railway line between Gauripur and Abhayapuri will be a big boost in the railway communication networks. This will not only connect the tiol capital but also all the long distance direct trains to Calcutta and trains to south India can run through this Gauripur railway junction,” said Hassan Ali Sheikh, a member of New Moiguri-Jogighopa New Railway line Demand Committee.
