Gaurisagar farm school to upgrade local goat breed

GAURISAGAR: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in Gaurisagar block under Sivasagar district set up a farm school in the premises of noted progressive farmer couple Mohendra Duarah and Bornali Barauh Duarah on Monday at Charing Duarahpar on the outskirts of Gaurisagar.

The aim of the farm school is upgradation of local goat breed through high breed Sirohi goat. The school was formally inaugurated by Bidit Das, ADC, Sivasagar. Dr Akshya Bhat Keshari, District Veterinary Officer (DVO), Sivasagar took part as chief guest. Addressing the farmers, the DVO said that scientific goat rearing could boost livelihood. He also highlighted how the farmers could earn their livelihood by adopting farm cultivation. He urged upon youths to grab the opportunities in the veterinary sector provided by the State Government.

In the function, Dr Nitumoni Gogoi, Deputy Project Director, ATMA, Sivasagar, Dilip Gogoi, Deputy Director, District Agriculture Office, Sivasagar, Priyanka Dutta, in-charge of KVK, Sivasagar and other dignitaries took part as resource persons.
