Gaurisagar girl Debashri Saikia secures 8th rank in HSLC exam by obtaining 586 marks

GAURISAGAR: Debashri Saikia, a student of Sankardev Bidya Mandir, Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district, brought laurels to Gaurisagar as well as Sivasagar district by obtaining 586 marks (97.67 per cent) and securing 8th position in the HSLC examination, the result of which was declared on Wednesday.

She got 96 in Assamese, 98 in English, 100 in General Mathematics, 98 in General Science, 94 in Social Science and 100 in Advanced Mathematics. Debashri is the daughter of Jadav Chandra Saikia, a retired employee of the Water Resources Department, and Abonti Saikia, a resident of Gaurisagar Nakatani village.

Soon after the declaration of the result, people gathered at her house to congratulate her. AASU, Gaurisagar Regional committee felicitated the girl in her residence. Taking to the media persons, Debashri said that she wanted to become a doctor and that she did not have any specific time schedule for studying.

In the school, a felicitation meeting was held where the school fraternity and various organizations felicitated Debashri. Amguri MLA Prodip Hazarika, AASU education secretary Sarat Hazarika, AJYCP Sivasagar District Committee president Dibya Jyoti Das, and Rajib Dutta, secretary of Gaurisagar Press Club, congratulated Debashri for her success.
