Girl allegedly commits suicide

TANGLA, April 9: A young girl hailing from Udalguri district, who was pursuing her career in Guwahati, allegedly committed suicide. According to her family members, Rima Basumatari was in love with Gagan Dutta for nearly three years. Both of them were even on the verge on tying the nuptial knot. The girl’s family had also given their consent following which both of them allegedly got legally married. But their relationship developed strains and turned frail.

 Gagan Dutta allegedly subjected Rima to mental and psychological torture and betrayed her, leaving her depressed and compelled her to end her life on April 6 in her rented house at Rupgar in Guwahati. The incident cast a pall of gloom in her village Gebangapathar under Dimakuchi Police station in Udalguri district. The family members of the deceased lodged an FIR at Paltan Bazaar police station vide case no.329/18. The police have registered a case under IPC 306 and other relevant sections and have begun investigation to b the accused who is still at large.
