GUWAHATI, June 7: Senior sports journalist Gitika Talukdar will represent the Northeast India for the coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2018 to be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15. The Guwahati based reporter, who is also an experienced photojournalist will be the first and the only female journalist to grasp the opportunity to cover the prestigious quadrennial international football tournament from the entire Northeast.

In her 13 years of career in journalism representing many leading publications, she has covered Indian Premier League, Indian Super League, India vs. Pakistan league Matches, Common Wealth Games, FIFA under 17 and the South Asian Games.

Gitika will be flying for Russia onJune 10 th to cover the entire series of group matches, semifinal and final matches which will be scheduled to take place in Moscow, Kazan, Samara, St. Petersburg and Russian other host cities. She was officially selected and accredited by the FIFA to cover the Football World Cup 2018. This is stated in a release.
