PATHSALA, June 27: A tribute ceremony was held at Pathsala at Bhagawati Kshetra in memory of the ‘Mancha Prabhakar’ Achyut Lahkar – the father of the Assamese mobile theatre
Bajali Sub Division Students’ Union, Pathsala Anchalik Students’ Union, Mobile Theatre Directors’ Union, Pathsala Chambers of Commerce, Pathsala Bajar Committee and many other organizations together held a ceremony to pay tribute to the legendary Achyut Lahkar at Bhagawati Khetra, Pathsala. Many of his well wishers paid homage to him in the ceremony. On June 12, Achyut Lahkar, the father of Assamese mobile theatre breathed his last.
The lighting of lamp was done by AASU chief adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya. AASU president Dipankar th, Children Welfare Committee’s Hrishikesh Goswami, Axam Xahitya Xabha’s Paramanda Rajbongshi, actress Cheta Das and director Munin Barua and many directors of mobile theatre were present in the ceremony.
Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya said that a chapter on Achyut Lahkar and mobile theatre should be included in the school textbooks in Assam.
Two souvenirs paying tribute to the legend were released. Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya released the souvenir Poriyalor Rup Tirtha Jatri while the other souvenir released by the Pathsala Press Club is titled Bhramyamanor Mahayak.
