Guwahati: Following severe water crisis in several areas of Guwahati after a pipeline was damaged due to construction work, since the past two days, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has finally assured that water supply on a regular basis will resume from today.
Water supply on a regular basis will resume in areas like Lachit Nagar, Guwahati Club, Sarania, Rajgarh, Gandhi Basti as the repair work of the damaged pipelines are over.
GMC today confirmed that they have done a thorough check on the effectiveness of the repairs and stated that adequate water would be stored in the Sarania water tank, from where water will be supplied to these areas.
It may be mentioned that, due to construction work near Gauhati Club, a pipeline was damaged causing it to burst. This major leakage led to wastage of nearly 2 lakh litres of water per day. The repair work of GMC had also caused major traffic congestion in many areas of the city.
