GNLA, AMEF cadres surrender

SHILLONG, Jan 6: P Sangma alias Bilbong, a dreaded GNLA cadre surrendered before the police in North Garo Hills on Wednesday. It has been learnt that Bilbong was involved in the abduction and killing of police head constable Kamaraj Bhattarai. He is the second GNLA cadre involved the abduction and murder of the police constable to surrender before the police following the surrender of Jimbo Sangma alias Rabon. Confiding this to The Sentinel, a senior police official said that while the prelimiry confessions of the surrendered militants illustrated their regrets for the abduction and killings and they showed courage in their disclosure of having acted under the command of the GNLA area commander Philliport Marak. It may be mentioned that, The Sentinel was the first to report about the killing of the police constable on the very same day.

Meanwhile, another AMEF cadre identified as R Sangma alias Bilkreng surrendered before the police on Tuesday.

Meghalaya Director General of Police Rajeev Mehta said, “We are doing our job till peace prevails in Garo Hills.” He, however, refused to list the success rate in the ratio of 1:10 but was confident that the militant groups will have to unconditiolly bow down to the pressure.
