Goa NCP accuses Parrikar of flip-flops on promises

Paji, Jan 4: The tiolist Congress Party in Goa on Monday accused Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar of doing flip-flop on promises made by him as state chief minister before he made it to the union cabinet. Parrikar should explain his flip-flops on removal of casinos, recovery of Rs.35,000 crore dues from fraud mining companies, among others, NCP state senior vice president Trajano D’Mello told media persons here.

“Is Parrikar not the same man who opposed the casinos on the Mandovi river? Is he not the same person who promised to bring a Lokayukta in the state? Is he not the same person who promised on the recovery of Rs.35,000 crore looted by illegal mining scamsters? Where is the delivery (on the promises)?” D’Mello said. Parrikar was chief minister of the state from 2012-2014.

Parrikar should focus on the defence ministry’s functioning and stop playing the role of extra-constitutiol authority in Goa, the NCP leader said. “His recent statements that negative comments made by his opponents and non-governmental organisations should not be given coverage has exposed his ked dictatorial attitude... When he was in opposition, he shared dais with the same NGOs and shared their concerns about Goa as well,” D’Mello said. Parrikar had slammed Goa’s NGOs for allegedly interfering with the state’s BJP-led coalition government’s development agenda by petitioning the courts, including the tiol Green Tribul.  (IANS)
