Gogoi urges people to defeat evil forces in the State

GAON, February 8: With a day-long programme, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi along with some of his ministers landed in gaon town on Monday morning and took part in various events for which the whole town faced a heavy traffic jam and normal life was affected.

Chief Minister Gogoi, along with ministers Rakibul Hussain, Dr zrul Islam and other dignitaries, first arrived at Mohkhuli and laid the foundation stone of gaon Medical College and soon after that he took part at the All Assam Fair Price Businessmen Association’s annual session held at gaon Dawson Higher Secondary School field. Addressing the session, Gogoi said that for the first time during his 15 years tenure as Chief Minister of the State he got the opportunity to have a meeting with the All Assam Fair Price Businessmen Association.

Gogoi pointed out various hardships that the fair price shop owners were facing since long.  He assured that in the next session they all would get Rs. 200 per qt. rice or other items for transportation. He further stated that Congress was always working for the welfare of the poor and needy.

Later, dressed as Lord Ram with bow and arrows in his hands, Gogoi attended the gaon Bhao Samaroh at the historical Nehrubali field.  “Raavan is the symbol of evil power and like Lord Ram we will also defeat the evil forces in the State which are trying to divide the society on the basis of religion,” said the Chief Minister.

Referring to the great contribution of Srimanta Sankardeva in the formation of the greater Assamese society, Gogoi urged people to follow Sankardeva’s philosophy.

Gogoi also iugurated a government undertaking girls’ hostel built at Lailuri area and a special school built at Laokhuwa area and the only overbridge built at Dhing gate on Monday. Ministers Rakibul Hussain, Dr zrul Islam, MLAs Dr Durlav Chamua, Dr Ardhenu Dey and Gautom Bora accompanied Gogoi to all his meetings.
