FROM A CORRESPONDENT
GAHPUR, May 10: Several villages under Gahpur subdivision in Sonitpur district face erosion threat from the swollen Brahmaputra river. If anti-erosion drive is not started on a war footing at the earliest, it may disappear in the river. Thousands of residents under Helem and Gahpur blocks are living in constant fear as massive erosion taken away huge chunk of land. During the last five months a total of three schools of the area—Tribeni Model High School, Dak Sapori MV School, Saporigaon Primary School have eroded away by the Brahmaputra river. Three ICDS centers were also wiped out due to the erosion in the area.
