Gokul hits ton in Nuruddin fil

GUWAHATI, April 2: An unbeaten century from Gokul Sarma helped Guwahati to pile up good total in the first innings against gaon in the fil of the Nuruddin Inter District (elite group) Cricket tourment held at Barsapara ground here today. Guwahati were 294-9 in their first innings at stumps on day I and Gokul remained not out 109.

gaon won the toss and invited Guwahati to bat first. Although the side were successful to get early brake through in the form of Rahul Hazarika (10) but opener Rishav Das (55) and Pritam Das (31) stitched the damaged nicely. Rest of the day was on the me of Gokul Sarma. The middle order batsman today played 185 balls to score the unbeaten knock of 109 runs with the help of seven boundaries and one over boundary. He also made a couple of good partnerships which took the team to good position. Rishav , who scored half century in the first innings, got out on his individual score 55 (51 balls, 4X10). Pritam Debth (31) and Nipon Deka (31) were the other major scorers for Guwahati. Among gaon bowlers, Bitap Mahanta was the only one who earned some respect from the opponent batsmen. Bitap took five wickets today giving away 102 runs. The match was called off after 76 overs due to bad light.
