Golaghat Festival kicks off

Golaghat, Feb 10: With a view to give a platform and to popularize the traditiol culture of different tribes and communities of Assam and the north-eastern region and to make a culturally enriched , peaceful society with commul harmony, the 2nd Golaghat Festival, 2016 kicked off on Tuesday at the Samany Pathar in Golaghat.

This week-long event was organized by Srimanta Sankardev Foundation, Golaghat. In the morning the festival was started with flag hoisting by the president of the Golaghat Festival Organizing Committee Suvansu Bora. In the afternoon, Golaghat Festival was officially iugurated and an exhibition was opened by the Principal of Vivekanda Kendriya Vidyalaya, Achinta Goswami. In this grand event lots of programme and competition will be held. Also the organizers have arranged air show for the first time in Golaghat.

An award ceremony will also be held where more than 50 persolities from different fields will be awarded with the Golaghat Gaurav 2016 award for their achievement in respective fields. Cultural evening programme and fashion shows are some of the events in the festival. The festival will e end on February 15.
