Golaghat Regional Students’ body demands solution to civic problems

Golaghat: The Golaghat Regional Students’ Union on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat to resolve various problems in Golaghat. A team, led by president and secretary of the organization, Angsuman Baruah and Biswajit Gogoi, met Golaghat DC Dhiren Hazarika to urge him to solve the major problems of Golaghat district. President Angsuman Baruah said that people of Golaghat had been facing lot of problems regarding traffic snarls, pure drinking water and proper medical treatment. Moreover, Golaghat Residential Girls’ Polytechnic College, Golaghat Government Bezbaruah Higher Secondary and Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital were in a pathetic condition, he said.

He added that they had raised these issues before the district administration several times but the district administration allegedly did not pay heed. He also said that in 2013, former Deputy Commissioner Julie Sonowal assured them to resolve the prime issues of the district and provide domestic gas pipeline home-to-home. But as yet the domestic gas supply project has not taken off.

The Golaghat Regional Students’ Union demanded pure drinking water system, scientific construction of drains and footpath, solution to problem of artificial flood in Golaghat town, load shedding problem, engagement of sufficient doctors and nurses in Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital and renovation of the Residential Girls’ Polytechnic and Golaghat Government Bezbaruah Higher Secondary School soon.
