GoM meet on road safety from today

GUWAHATI, April 17: A two-day meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is going to be held from April 18-19 at a Guwahati hotel.  The team is led by the Chairman and Transport Minister of Rajasthan, Yunus Khan and transport ministers of various states as its members. Assam will be the host State for the 'Group of Ministers Meeting - 2018'.

Twenty-four states will be participating in the two-day programme. Senior officials comprising additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, commissioners and secretaries of transport department from various states will discuss issues related to road safety measures on April 18, 2018 from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The GoM representing States like Meghalaya, Nagaland, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Kerela, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Goa, Haryana, Jharkhand etc., will meet and discuss road safety parameters on April 19 from 10 am to 2 pm.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has constituted a group of transport ministers to examine the best practices in road safety and road transport sector and to suggest actionable point of implementation with the objectives to reduce fatalities and road accidents. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will attend the meeting as chief guest on April 19, 2018. Assam Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary will also be present at the meeting.
