Good start for Assam in Syed Mushtaq Ali cricket

GUWAHATI, March 25: Assam made a good start in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket tourment defeating Bengal by 18 runs in Cuttack today. Invited to bat, Assam scored 189-6 in their 20 overs. Siv Sankar Roy (48, 51 balls, 8X4) was the top scorer while J Syed Mohammad (35 no), Pallav Das (250, Amit Sinha (24) and Sarupam Purkayastha (24) also contributed good runs on the board. Among the Bengal bowlers Dinda suffered badly by the hand of Assam batsman as the bowler spent 48 runs in his four overs spell collecting a single wicket. In reply Debabrata Das tried his best to take Bengal home but he didn't get too much support from the other end. Debabrata remained not out on 71 (40 balls, 4X6, 6X5). Pritam Das and Abu Nechim Ahmed picked up two wickets each.
