Government condemns blast

SHILLONG, Jan 9: The Meghalaya government has condemned the IED attack which took place at a market place in Williamgar, East Garo Hills today.

“Such acts of cowardice expose the ugly inhuman face of the terrorist outfit. This also reflects that the proscribed outfit has no commitment towards the well-being and welfare of the local community. They only spread fear, distress, distrust and disharmony,” the government said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Government has also appealed to all right thinking people and the civil society to come forward and condemn the cowardly act of violence.

“The security forces shall take all steps possible to track down the crimils involved in the incident. The Government also reiterates that it would further intensify the operations against the terrorist outfits and would completely neutralize them in order to restore sustaible peace in the region,” the government added.

The state government has also appealed to all citizens to assist the law enforcing machinery in its drive against such unlawful militant outfits.
