Government floats new tender

FROM A REPORTER
SHILLONG, Feb 13: State Nodal Officer NPR PW Ingty on Monday informed that the Meghalaya government has floated a new tender for engaging a new enrolment agency for the enrolment for the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) by issuing a unique biometric-ebled number, called ‘Aadhaar’. “Now the government needs to approve the agency which will carry out enrolment drive for Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) by issuing a unique biometric-ebled number, called ‘Aadhaar’,” he said. It may be noted that the state government was forced to float a new tender after some payment issues with the old enrollment agency. Though there was stiff opposition to Aadhaar in the state but the opposition has subside since Aadhar is now being made mandatory for availing most of the Government schemes and even for official works. Ingty observed that around 10 percent population of the State so far have been enrolled under the Unique Identification Authority of India.
