Government reviews MGNREGS implementation

Shillong, Dec 1: The State government held a review meeting over implementation of Mahatma Gandhi tiol Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at the Conference Hall of Secretariat Building here on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Community & Rural Development (C&RD) Minister Comingone Ymbon stated that during the meeting the government found that various blocks in the State has implemented the scheme in proper manner.

He, however, said that the problem faced by the State is regarding the release of funds by the Central government.

"All job card holders from now onwards should have their own bank account so that their money can be directly deposited to their accounts, which will also help in wiping out corruption," he said.

He informed the media that the government has also decided to provide the Village Employment Councils with computers in their offices.
