Government servants must contribute something meaningful to society: Jorhat DC

JORAHAT, April 22: Emphasizing on the need for the civil servants to rededicate themselves and renew their commitment to public service, Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Vishal Vasant Solanki urged all government officers to be more passiote towards their service and do justice to their profession.

Speaking on the occasion of “Civil Services Day” held in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Thursday; the DC highlighted the differences between job and service and told that prime motive in government service is to serve the people.

DC Solanki further said that government service should not be considered as a privilege but rather it should be treated as a responsibility entrusted for well being of the society.

“It is the society which has made the government servants and therefore all government servants must contribute something meaningful to the society,” he said.

“The job of government servants is like the unseen rocks of the Taj Mahal, which are the force behind development of the tion,” he added.

He urged all government servants to be emphatic to the needs of the people and strive hard to bring happiness in their faces, which the DC termed as the real reward for government servants.

Dr Lakshmipriya, Assistant Commissioner, Jorhat said that the day provides a unique opportunity for introspection and also chalking out future strategies to deal with the challenges being posed by the changing times.
