Government trying to make India a top leader of the world: Silchar

Silchar: 72nd Independence Day was celebrated across Lakhipur with nationalistic and patriotic fervour. A large number of socio-cultural organizations hoisted the Tricolour and conducted small functions.

Addressing a huge gathering of more than 3000 people at Sarada Charan playground at Earle Higher Secondary School, Lakhipur, ADC Cachar, J R Lalsim who was also the in-charge, SDO (Civil) Lakhipur, stressed on the state government's ideology which is based on overall progress and development. She said that government is trying its level best to make India a top leader of the world in all respects.

Earlier, she hoisted the National Flag at 9 am in the gracious presence of SDPO Gaurav Kumar Agarwal, SDPO, magistrates Pradip Kumar Gupta, Mrinal Newpane, Jahnabi Devi, Yahidul Islam, Pritam Raja Sharma and MLA Rajdeep Goala. She praised the government for taking various developmental initiatives. There were no reports of any untoward incidents.

Tight security arrangements were provided by Gaurav Kumar Agarwal, 13 Bn BSF (Tanot Warrior), SSB, 63 Bn, 37 Assam Rifles, VDPs led by its deputy advisor Rajen Goala and CO VDO Pijush Palit. Fruits and sweets were also distributed among the patients admitted in Lakhipur government hospital. BSF personnel also took an active part in the I-Day celebrations. BSF personnel led by A Senthil Kumar and Neerja Dubey observed the day at high and ME schools of Chotomamda. They also planted 150 tree saplings on August 14 and advised people to keep their surroundings neat and clean. Neeraj Dubey, Debashish Chakraborty, Arun Vignesh, IFS, among other higher officials was present.
