Governor appoints new Advocate General

ITAGAR, Feb 4: Senior advocate of Gauhati High Court Sishir Dutta has been appointed as the new Advocate General of the state.

In exercise of powers conferred by Article 165 (1) of the Constitution, Governor J P Rajkhowa has appointed Dutta as the Advocate General for the state on Wednesday, an official communiqué informed.

The governor also appointed Anil Srivastav as Additiol Advocate General-cum-Standing Counsel for the state in the Supreme Court.  Srivastav will represent for the state in appeals, review, revisions and miscellaneous cases before the Supreme Court and Guwahati High Court, the communiqué added.

On February 1 last, Rajkhowa had termited the services of state’s Advocate General Ranji Thomas and Additiol Advocate General R H bam.
