Itanagar, July 16: Emphasizing on strengthening the Public Distribution System (PDS)in the state, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Monday said that the basic requirements must reach every bonafide denizens, especially in the remote villages.
During a meeting with state Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs Minister Kamlung Mossang who called on him at Raj Bhavan here, the governor said that focus should be made to ensure supply of PDS items in the border areas near Bhutan in the West to Myanmar in the East, an official communiqué informed.
The governor also stressed that availability of essential commodities at reasonable rates must be ensured with utmost transparency and accountability.
He suggested for evolving an effective monitoring system throughout the state on availability and pricing of essential commodities. He also recommended for proper monitoring and regular inspection of storehouses, Fair Price Shops and other outlets and check malpractice and hoarding of essential commodities.
Dr Mishra advised the Minister to enforce regular checking of PDS for ensuing proper market prices and to address issues of the consumers, if any in fast track mode, the communiqué added.
