Governor calls for strengthening health, education sectors

Itagar, Feb 11: Aruchal Pradesh Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa on Wednesday called for strengthening the health and education sectors for overall development of the state.

“It is true that that every department has problems but it is more acute in health and education sectors,” the governor remarked while interacting with public representatives here, an official communiqué informed here today.

“It has to be addressed through ratiolization of posting in these two departments,” he emphasised.

Sharing his past experiences as Principal Secretary Education, the governor remarked that postings of teachers have been a highly politicalized affair.

He said that whenever regular government is put in place, it is desirable that the cabinet has to take firm decision on it.

Interacting with public representatives from Dibang Valley, Bailo Mele and Eri Tayu at Raj Bhavan here, the governor advised the Secretary Education to place the surplus teachers from the neighboring places to the places where it is acutely in short.

Rajkhowa noted with concern that against six sanctioned post of Subject Teachers in the Higher Secondary School, there is only one teacher in position.

The Secretary Education assured to post two additiol Subject Teachers to the Government Higher Secondary School, Anini immediately to start with and fresh recruitment is done within two months’ time.

On health issues of the district, the governor advised that the DC and DMO must conduct a study on the health related cases more particularly increasing cancer cases in Dibang Valley on priority. He also advised for conducting awareness campaigns on health and social issues.

Secretary Education Marnya Ete, Secretary Health (Link officer), Dr B M Mishra and District Health Services Director Dr Moji Jini were present in the meeting, the communiqué added.
