Governor directs NCHAC chairman to hold special session

Haflong, June 4: PB Acharya, Governor of Assam, after carefully considering the request of Nironjan Hojai and 19 other MACs, in exercise of powers conferred under Rule 36(5) of the Assam Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951 (as amended), has directed the chairman of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council to hold a special session of the council specially for no confidence motion on June 6. This was communicated by Sudip Chakraborty, Joint Secretary to Governor of Assam. Niranjon Hojai and 19 other MACs had sought a special session to move a no-confidence motion against the present executive committee. The Governor had given a hearing on June 2 to the petitioners, Nironjon Hojai and 19 other MACs, and came to a conclusion that a floor test was necessary to settle the issue.
