Governor discusses land acquisition with GOC

Itagar, April 10: Aruchal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra on Monday instructed Land Magement Secretary SK Jain to resolve the issue of setting up of Army field firing ranges in the State and to make comprehensive plans so that it can be presented to and expeditiously approved by the State government.

Mishra issued the instruction during a meeting with Dimapur based GoC 3 corps Lt General Gopal R and GoC Infantry Division Major General Bhaskar Kalita at Raj Bhavan here on Monday evening to discuss issues relating to the land acquisition for the Army, a Raj Bhawan communiqué stated on Tuesday.

The people of the State support setting up of the Army firing training fields and for that matter reasoble land compensation should be provided, the Governor said. Dr Mishra and the Army officers also discussed other issues concerning the security of the borders.

“The security of the tion is of prime importance and has to be given top priority,” Mishra said. The officers briefed the Governor on the Army’s dedicated welfare measures for the welfare of the civilians, the communiqué added.
