Governor iugurates resource centre

SHILLONG, May 3: Meghalaya Governor V Shanmugathan today lauded the services rendered by the teachers, fathers and sisters of the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre.

Shanmugathan lauded the centre while iugurating an accessible resource centre cum computer lab at Umniuh-Khwam in Ri-Bhoi district.

The resource centre cum computer lab will empower children with disabilities to access digital learning and enhance their computer skills with digital assistive technology.

The Governor called upon Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre to work towards making the center one of the best resources for children with disabilities in the North East region.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor cited some famous persolities with disabilities such as famous writer John Milton, artist Sudha Chandran and Arunima the female amputee who conquered Mount Everest.

CBM India Trust has supported the setting up of the computer lab.

The centre presently has 190 students. Cultural programmes were conducted during the programme.
