Governor takes stock of law-and-order situation

SIVASAGAR, June 29: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi concluded his three day visit to Sivasagar district on Thursday. During his maiden visit to the district, Mukhi held meeting with the security agencies and district administration to take stock of the present law and order situation of the district in the conference hall of the DC office. On his arrival at the district on June 26, the Governor was accorded traditional reception led by the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar Pallav Gopal Jha.

He also sat with the district heads of the departments to review the state and central governments schemes being implemented by various departments including Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and with organizations, leading citizens and media persons. Prof. Mukhi also visited the adjacent district Charaideo on June 27. Before leaving for Charaideo, the Governor visited Sibsagar College on the bank of the historic Joysagar tank and interacted with the teachers and students of the college.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the toilet facilities for students, especially girls, and directed the college authorities to take steps promptly. While visiting the Sivasagar Civil Hospital, the Governor thoroughly inspected the toilets and other facilities and directed the hospital Superintendent to make the toilets and other facilities clean within a month or face administrative action.
