Gram Sevikas on warpath

Shillong, April 20: The Qualified Gram Sevikas of East Khasi Hills district has vowed to take the agitation path if the authorities fail to re-validate the one-year of qualification period for an appointment. Eight aspirants who have qualified for the post through the official process since August 2012 cried foul on the government, stating, it should not have declared them as qualified candidates for the post if there were no vacancies. These qualified candidate who went through the rigorousity of written examitions and persol interview told newsmen in Shillong on Monday, “There are at least two vacant posts in East Khasi Hills district but no action has been taken to ensure that the vacant post are filled up,” state Besilda Jyrwa, a qualified candidate, even as she rrated the harrowing experience that they had been facing to place their cause. The government has not accommodated them as the validity period of their qualification has expired. They have met the Minister in charge of Department of Community and Rural Development, Prestone Tynsong, the State Chief Secretary, besides submitting more than six representations to the Government.  Jyrwa said, “Injustice has been met to us when scores of people are entering through the back door”, adding, “If the Government fails to respond to our plea, we are going to take stringent steps”.
