Gram Shakti Abhiyaan observed at Haflong

Haflong, April 28: As a part of Gram Swaraj Abhijaan which is being observed from April 14 to May 5, 2018 the Gram Shakti Abhijaan Divas was celebrated at Haflong.
The day’s programme was organized by Dima Hasao Panchayat and Rural Development Department, in collaboration with the Assam Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (APDCL) at the District Library Auditorium Hall, Haflong on Saturday.
The objective of the programme was to highlight the development programme launched by the Central Government for uplift of rural and poor people with various schemes like Prime Minister Awas Yojana-Gramin, Prime Minister Ujwalla Yojana, Saubhagya Yojana, Indradhanush Yojana and Jan Dhan Yojana.
During the speech delivered by the speakers, they briefly explained about the schemes and how to avail the schemes. They also suggested the line department to co-operate with the people and educate the old and illiterate people about the schemes with minimum required documents. They also informed that people belonging to BPL category could also enjoy benefits of some of the schemes by depositing Rs 500 to avail electricity connection and insurance.
The programme was held in presence of Jishnu Baruah, Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam and chairman, APDCL, HH Sukhla, Under Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Heavy Industries, and Amitab Rajkhowa, Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao.
The programme ended with distribution of sanction letters to beneficiaries of PMAY (Gramin) and letters of electricity connection and free gas connection under PMUY.
