Gross misuse of fund under PMGSY alleged

Our correspondent

Itanagar, May 9: Alleging gross misuse of fund under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the construction of the road from Jejudada to Tagangwarang Phase-I in Gyawepurang circle of East Kameng district, the newly formed Jejudada to Tagangwarang PMGSY Road Construction Fact Finding Committee has demanded the concerned authority not to make further payment to the contractors.
In a representation to the Chief Executive Officer of Arunachal Pradesh Rural Development Agency (APRDA), the committee claimed that as per the detailed project report (DPR) submitted to the department, the distance from Jejudada to Tagangwarang is projected as around 29 Kms whereas the actual distance is 10 Kms.
It alleged that the contractor has till now worked on only 9 kms and is allegedly manipulating the department to stretch the length up to 29 kms to meet the sanctioned amount. The committee appealed to the concerned authority to look into the matter and take necessary action while stopping further payment to the contractor against the said project.
