GSU urges CM for double lane NH projects

Shillong, April 18: A Southern Zone delegation of Garo Students’ Union called on Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention on implementing a double lane for NH-62 and NH 62 (E) in South Garo Hills. On his part, the Chief Minister has given assurance to the delegation on the issue, a prèss release stated.

The Chief Minister told the delegation that the Government was committed to improve the road connectivity in the State and adequate thrust will be accorded to improve road communication and connectivity in the region. The other request made by the GSU pertained to setting up of MeECL Division Office at Baghmara, up-gradation of Baghmara Civil Hospital, up-gradation of school infrastructure and teaching staff at Baghmara Government Higher Secondary School, improving the dilapidated PWD roads, up-gradation of various government department building amongst others, the release added.
