Guwahati 263/5 on Day 1

GUWAHATI, April 21: Guwahati made good start against Nagaon in the semifinal of the Nuruddin Ahmed Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament which got under way at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara here today. Invited to bat, Guwahati scored 263-5 in their first innings at stumps on day I. 
However there was no match on day I of second semi final between Silchar and Bongaigaon at Mangaldoi today. Overnight rain made the ground condition very poor and both the umpires decided to call off the 1st day’s play after a couple of round of inspection.
In Guwahati local outfit, as expected, made good start in the semi final. Riyan Parag and Gokul Sharma played two good knocks which put the team in driver’s seat. Riyan although got out on 72 (90 balls, 4X13) but Gokul remained not out on 73. He altogether faced 154 balls and hit 8 boundaries. At stumps Tarjinder Singh (40no, 78 balls, 4X4) was giving accompany to Gokul. Among the bowlers of Nagaon Mrinmoy Dutta (3-62) came out with best figure.
