GUWAHATI, April 22: Guwahati are on the verge to enter into the final of the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket Championship as the side took full control in the semi final against Nagaon here today.

Chasing Guwahati’s first innings total 459-8 Nagaon were bowled out paltry 94 runs in their first innings. Later Guwahati finished the day II scoring 139/ 2 in their second innings.

The entire credit of Guwahati’s dominance in the semi final should go to two overnight not out batsmen Gokul Sharma and Tarjinder Singh. Both the batsmen today scored century. Guwahati started day’s proceeding from their overnight score 263-5 and the two batsmen continued their good performance this morning also. Gokul scored 152 runs (243 balls) before he got out and there were 19 boundaries and one six in his innings. Tarjinder took 155 balls to score 118 runs with the help of 12 boundaries and one six.

Later Abhinav Choudhuri performed well with the ball to restrict Nagaon’s first innings paltry 94. Abhinav bowled only 35 balls in the innings and picked up 5-25.

In the second innings Rahul Hazarika took the centre stage and the batsmen remained not out on 61 when the day’s play came to an end.

Meanwhile the second day’s play of other semi final between Silchar and Bongaigaon at Mangaldoi also washed out because of rain.
