Guwahati Excise Division destroyed Country liquor in diffrent parts of Guwahati

GUWAHATI, July 26: Three teams of the Department of Excise, Guwahati Division while conducting an excise drive at Beltola Weekly Market, Panikhaiti and Fancy Bazar, Rail Gate No 2 on Thursday morning, destroyed 250 liters of country liquor and arrested two women.

According to the department’s source, the excise drive was carried out following the directive given by the Superintendent, Department of Excise. During the drive, the team destroyed 150 liters of desi liquor and arrested a woman from Beltola Weekly Market.

Moreover, three others were penalized allegedly for taking alcohol in public space at Panikhaiti while 100 liters of desi liquor were destroyed at Fancy Bazar, Rail Gate No 2 and arrested another woman. During the drive at Fancy Bazar, the team destroyed numbers of temporary huts covered with plastics for taking alcohol. Notably, the arrested women duo were later sent to judicial custody.
