Guwahati lift Nuruddin trophy

GUWAHATI, April 5: A nice century from Dhiraj Goswami went in vain as Guwahati lifted the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket tourment title defeating gaon by virtue of first innings lead. The game between the two sides ended as a draw at the Barsapara stadium here today.

Chasing 431 runs to win, gaon lost wickets on regular interval in the second innings today and never looked that they could win the game or at least reach close to the target. However Dhiraj Goswami, who came into bat in 9th position, entertained the ground with a magnificent innings. He required 80 balls to play the unbeaten knock of 100 runs and during this innings he hit 5 boundaries and 7 over boundaries. gaon were 338-9 in their second innings when the match came to an end today. Except Dhiraj,  there were only two batsmen from gaon-Eshaan Ravi (37) and Bitop Mahanta (26) who contributed some runs on the board. Among the bowlers of Guwahati Gokul Sarma, Abir Chakraborty and Sadek Imran Choudhury bagged two wickets each.
