Guwahati Open Tennis Championship from Jan 6

GUWAHATI: The 3rd Guwahati Open Junior Tennis Championship, organised by Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA), will be held at the RG Baruah Sports Complex from January 6. The tournament will be held for Boy’s and Girl’s Singles U-12, 14 and 18 years respectively. The championship will carry a total of Rs. 2.20 lakhs as scholarship. The Boy’s and Girl’s Singles U-18 category will receive Rs. 10,000 and runner will get Rs 7,000 while in the U–14 winner will earn Rs. 7,000 and runner-up will collect Rs. 6,000. In the U-12 category winner and runners up will be presented Rs. 6,000 and 5,000 respectively.

Scholarship money will be awarded to the players from quarter finals stage in all categories. The tournament will feature more than 200 players from various parts of the region.

An organising committee has been formed with Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, Pronoy Bordoloi, Kishore Jayanta Madhaband, Anirban Das as Advisors, Kalyan Kumar Das as Chairman, Nabajyoti Kalita as Organising Secretary, Mishi Das as Tournament Director, Rupam Gogoi as Chief Referee and Dilip Pathak as Treasurer to run the championship smoothly and successfully.
