Guwahati Pran submits memorandum to Governor

GUWAHATI, June 8: The Guwahati Pran famed Dhiren Baruah submitted a memorandum to the Governor of the state, Jagdish Mukhi meeting him at Raj Bhavan on Friday. In his memorandum, Baruah said that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 may be stopped as per the peopls’ wish to save the demographic pattern of the region. “Rather a correct NRC is very important,” the letter said. Baruah said that the constitutional safeguard of 80% reservation of the Assam Assembly Constituency to the Assamese tribal and non-tribal including the Assamese Muslim should be covered under it. He also urged the Governor to safeguard the alnd acquisition porivision act on behalf of the indigenous people. “The Bangladeshi both Hindu and Muslim issue needs to be solved and I earnestly seek your intervention that as per the constitution anyone coming into the country after 1951 their names may not be allowed to be in the voting,” Baruah said.

Baruah also sought attention from the Governor to find a solution to the water logging problem in the city besides providing drinking water facilities to community centres in and around Guwahati city.
