Guwahati ready to lift Nuruddin title

GUWAHATI, April 4: Guwahati is all set to lift the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket Championship title (elite group) unless gaon give some miraculous effort on the last day tomorrow and reverse the present scerio. Chasing 431 runs to win, visitors were 54-2 at sumps on day III at the Barsapara stadium here today. The side still required another 377 runs on the last day to win game.

It was a team effort that put Guwahati ahead of gaon. In the first innings Gokul Sarma scored a century while yesterday Chakya Sarma picked up six wickets to restrict gaon 147 in the first innings. Rahul Hazarika (112) played a solid knock and remained not out scoring am unbeaten century.

Guwahati started the third day's play from their overnight score 27-1 and took their score to 277 before got out in 72.4 overs.  Rahul Hazarika played 201 balls to score the unbeaten knock of 112 runs with the help of 12 boundaries. Sadeq Imran Choudhury (55) and Romario Sharma (49) also contributed good runs on the board. Deepjyoti Goswami (4-36), Dhiraj Goswami (3-41),and Amit Sinha (3-81) shared the wickets that Guwahati lost in the second innings.

gaon played 15 overs during the remaining part of day's play and scored 54 for the loss of 2 wickets. Eshan Ravi and Amit Sinha remained not out 29 and 22 runs respectively. Gokul Sarma picked up both the wickets giving away only 7 runs.
