Guwahati Storm Into Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket Championship

29 wickets fall on Day 1 as Abu, Riyan shine

GUWAHATI: Guwahati stormed into the final of the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket championship thrashing Nagaon by an innings and 49 runs in the semi final held at Barpeta today. The two-day tie didn’t last one full day and it witnessed fall of 29 wickets.

The match between Guwahati and Nagaon were completely dominated by the bowlers of either sides. Elected to bat, Nagaon were bowled out paltry 61 runs in 20.2 overs. Riyan Parag picked up 6-28.Later the bowlers of Nagaon too forced Guwahati’s batsmen to struggle and entire Guwahati team were bowled out 133 in the first innings. Chanakya Sarma (4/48) and (Amit Sinha 4/30) were most successful with the ball.

Guwahati’s pacer Abu Nechim Ahmed then took the centre stage. The bowler today found in good rhythm and he single handedly finished Nagaon in the second innings bagging 6/10. Nagaon played just 8.5 overs before got out on 23 in second innings.

In the other semi final in Guwahati Barpeta, in reply to NFRSA’s first innings total 166, were 82-3 at stumps on Day I.
