Hackers siphon off Rs 14 lakh from MLA’s SBI account

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, July 13: How secure is your money in banks? Even the money of legislators is not safe in banks, let alone that of commoners.

This poser has once again assumed significance with the latest case of swindling coming into light. The bank account of AGP MLA Utpal Dutta has been hacked and an amount of around Rs 14 lakh has been siphoned off from it. Dutta noticed this while visiting the Dispur branch of SBI to do some transaction today. According to Dutta, about 100 fraudulent transactions in his account have been done in the recent past. With the persons involved in it even changing his mobile number given to the bank, the MLA does not rule out the involvement of some bank employees in it. Dispur police has already started investigation. An FIR has been lodged in Dispur police station in this connection. A team of the police visited the bank later in the day.
