Haflong Lake Revival Week kicks off

HAFLONG, April 25: A week-long programme of Haflong Lake Revival Week organized by MaD (Make a Difference) Haflong, in collaboration with SOUL (Save Our Lake) was iugurated by NCHAC Chief Executive Member Debojeet Thaosen on April 21 at Haflong Lake are  here.

In his iugural speech NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) CEM Debojeet Thaosen recalled the period when the British constructed the lake to make water available for the people of erstwhile Haflong town.

“But now the people of Haflong have encroached upon the surroundings of the lake for habitation and the lake has become a dumping ground thereby polluting the lake. So, the efforts made by the leading NGOs,  Associations and people of Haflong collectively for the first time in Dima Hasao is a matter of appreciation,” he said.

Thason also appealed all to launch such  programme in Dima Hasao to make the district a beautiful and tourist destition.

CEM DebojeetThaosen along with other dignitaries also launched Swach Abhigyan at Haflong Lake.

The programme was also attended by NCHAC Executive Member Debo Hojai, Executive Member Denis Teron, Executive Member Ranu Langthasa, MAC Iheuing Pame, Haflong Town Committee Vice-Chairman John Poithong, besides top police and Assam Rifles officials. The Haflong Lake Revival Week will continue till April 27.
