TEZPUR, March 31: “This election is not a joke, rather it is a time to take a proper decision to bring the BJP-AGP-BPF alliance to power by casting your vote in favour of this alliance on April 4, only for the development and safety and security of the region,” said Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary while addressing a huge election rally at Dhekipelwa playground under the Dhekiajuli LAC in Sonitpur district on Thursday.

Taking part as star campaigner for the Dhekiajuli LAC, BJP candidate, Ashok Shinghal in his speech, the Rajya Sabha MP further said that the Dhekiajuli LAC was in the hands of an incapable public representative from Congress for the last five years because of which every possible developmental work remained stagnt. “Rampant corruption against each of the developmental schemes by the MLA of the constituency was a major obstacle for which people of most of the areas in the LAC are yet to enjoy modern-day facilities like safe drinking water, electricity, road communication, health and hygiene, school and colleges for better education,” he said and added that without a united force, prosperity of every community of the region was not possible. So this time three major forces had united in Assam.

Disclosing the reason behind the breaking of relationship with Congress, Biswajit Daimary also said that through the BTC arrangement a sea change could be witnessed in the BTC area reflecting development of every community living within the jurisdiction of council and the remaining works were supposed to be executed with special route map of work. “However, this policy was rejected by Tarun Gogoi-led Assam government which irked us,” he said.

Meanwhile, criticizing ABSU and NDFB (P)’s political pact with the Congress, he also said that if any development was happening in BTC or for the people living outside the BTC, it was only after the formation of BTC where organizations like ABSU or NDFB had no contribution. “So they don’t have any right to say against us,” he claimed. On the other hand, referring to the giving of land patta to the people living in the forest areas in Sonitpur by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, in a recent public meeting at Chardwar, and granting separate directorate for Bodo medium, he also said that it was nothing but a failed arrangement as the land patta arrangement had already been done by BTC administration with pact with the Central Government, and the separate directorate is given only up-to the elementary level education. “So, there is nothing any new in this agenda of Congress and ABSU, it is only a political gimmick,” he mentioned.

Attending the programme, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary urged the voters to wipe out the Congress party. “Congress has ruled the country for 65 years, but what has it given to the people? For corruption in all spheres, the country has attained in a devastating state,” he alleged .

In the rally, the BJP candidate Ashok Singhal also made an appeal for vote for the greater interest of overall development of the area. The programme was conducted by local BPF worker, Lenin Basumatary and BJP, AGP and BPF workers attended.
