Hagrama Mohilary says victory of BPF candidate is imminent in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The president of the BPF, Hagrama Mohilary, who is also the chief of BTC, on Tuesday inaugurated the office of the central election office of BPF at Kokrajhar in presence of senior party leaders and Rajya Sabha MP. The party has been working overtime to regain the Kokrajhar seat and formation of election steering committee in 10 segments was completed on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters, the president of the BPF, Hagrama Mohilary said the political battle in 5-Kokrajhar (ST) constituency would take place between BPF's Pramila Rani Brahma and ABSU-backed UPPL candidate UG Brahma. He said the party would get support of different communities and the victory of the BPF candidate was imminent. He said the BPF would field candidate only in Kokrajhar but in remaining 13 seats of the State, they would support the candidates of BJP and AGP. He said the party would kick-start a massive poll campaign from March 25.

Mohilary said sitting MP from Kokrajhar, Naba Kr. Sarania was not at all a factor this time as he had lost people's faith due to his failure to work for the welfare of the people. He said the divisive politics of Boro and O-Boro was over and people of the region had already rejected communal and divisive politics. He also claimed that his party's candidate would win with a huge margin of votes from Kokrajhar and they would play a vital role in other constituencies in the State. He further said that the BJP would return to power at the Centre and in Assam also the BJP would capture all the seats.

BPF candidate Pramila Rani Brahma said she was confident of her victory from Kokrajhar with a huge margin. She said all communities had come forward to extend support to BPF. She also said the response of the people to BPF were tremendous as the party had been working for all-round development of every community in the region.

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary said there was no major hurdle in the victory of the BPF candidate. He said sitting MP Naba Kr. Sarania was no longer a factor this time as his communal politics would not work. The programme was also attended by BPF general secretary Immanuel Mashahary and MP Rihon Daimary. On the other hand, UPPL candidate UG Brahma and other party leaders have been going from one constituency to other while the anchalik committees of the ABSU have been organizing various social and educational programmes to garner support for the candidates backed by them.
